Marcia Barksdale has a License for Professional Counseling in Mississippi and a National Board of Counselor Certification. Since 2019, she has been a Board Certified Telemental Health therapist as we.  She is from New Orleans where she taught junior high learning-disabled students for six years before getting her Master's degree in Biblical Counseling. During her five-year private practice in Ohio, she directed eating disorder support groups and appeared on a local radio program. Her lecture,"When Is Thin Enough?" was presented to psychology professors at area universities and to interested participants on several occasions. Marcia taught at the University of Akron before moving to Ocean Springs. While in Mississippi, she taught psychology for several years at the University of Southern Mississippi and volunteered her counseling services through her church. She opened this practice in 2005 specializing in women's issues. 

Marcia offers cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR.  Click here for a more detailed explanation of EMDR which is one of the most recommended treatments for trauma.  She offers a class called, "Seeing My Time" which helps with concentration and ADHD behaviors for adults and adolescents.  It is an 8 week class offered through telehealth.  

Additionally, Marcia mentors other LPC's in beginning or growing their counseling private practices.
