Marcia Barksdale has a License for Professional Counseling in Mississippi and a National Board of Counselor Certification. She is from New Orleans where she taught junior high learning-disabled students for six years before getting her Master's degree. During her five-year private practice in Ohio, she directed several eating disorder support groups and frequently appeared on a local radio program. Her lecture, "When Is Thin Enough?" was presented to psychology professors at area universities and to interested participants on several occasions. Marcia taught at the University of Akron before moving to Ocean Springs. While in Mississippi, she taught psychology for several years at the University of Southern Mississippi and volunteered her counseling services through her church.
